Talks & Films
A member of the Great Fen team will visit your group and talk about what we do, how the restoration work benefits wildlife and people, what we have achieved so far and the exciting future vision of the fen.
"The Great Fen: 25 Years of Changing the Landscape" - As we reach this impressive and important milestone, take a look back with us at the work completed so far, the wildlife it has benefitted and the future direction of landscape restoration in the Fens.
Alternatively, you can arrange the showing of a film to your group, either the 'Spitfire excavation' or ' Memories from the Fen'. Each film has a running time of approximately 40 minutes.
"Spitfire Excavation" is a short detailed film explaining the journey in 2015 of recovering Spitfire X4593 flown by Pilot Officer Harold Edwin Penketh.
"Memories from the Fen" shows what daily life was like in the fen and childhood memories through local stories and dramatisations.
The cost of each film showing or talk is £75.
Please note, in the winter months of October–March, in-person talks and films are available in the daytime only. Talks can be offered online for evening events during these months. Evening talks can be offered in person between April and September. If you are interested in booking either a talk or viewing of a film, please contact a member of the Great Fen team via email or 01487 815524. If your organisation does not have a budget but you are still interested, please get in touch to discuss availability.
We also regularly deliver informative talks about the work of the wider Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs and Northants, its reserves, and local wildlife to community groups and organisations in the region. The Trust's experts in conservation can talk in depth about anything from chalk stream restoration to bird habitats and sustainable farmland management. We also have a number of introductory talks to groups of wildlife, such as bats, butterflies, and orchids. For the full list of talks and information on how to book, click here.
