Hello everyone! We are thrilled to introduce ourselves as the new Peatland Progress interns at Ramsey Heights. We’re excited to be here and look forward to contributing to the important work at the Wildlife Trust. Stay tuned for updates as we share our experiences and adventures throughout this journey!
Hello from our new interns
Kaitlyn
Hi everyone! My name is Kaitlyn, and last year I left University with a Zoology degree and got straight into volunteering and job hunting. I have been volunteering with the Communities and Education team at Ramsey Heights for almost a year now and ended up completing a 6-week internship pilot at the start of the year. Since then, I’ve stuck around to assist with different tasks and events and even started to volunteer with the monitoring team at the Great Fen completing various surveys. I’m excited to begin this new internship and to work more on the Peatland Progress project as I find it so interesting!
Natalie
Hello! My name is Natalie and I am very excited to be joining the Communities and Education team at Ramsey Heights as an intern. I am currently pursuing a Natural Sciences degree at the University of Leeds and am eager to apply the theory I have learnt to practical conservation challenges. Throughout my studies I have explored animal behaviour, genetics and conservation science, which has developed my passion for the natural world. The opportunity to engage with the local community and gain an insight into the varied projects the team at Ramsey Heights contribute to really appeals to me. I am looking forward to learning new things and collaborating with a great team on very exciting projects

Lucy
Hello everyone! I’m Lucy, and I'm delighted to be joining the Wildlife Trust BCN as one of their new Peatland Progress Communities and Education Interns this summer. I’m excited to learn, grow, and contribute to the important work at the Wildlife Trust.
I have just completed my third year studying Geography at the University of the West of England in Bristol and will be entering my fourth year this September. Since the beginning of this year, I have had the pleasure of volunteering with the Wildlife Trust BCN, which has sparked my passion for community engagement and conservation. Now, I’m eager to take that enthusiasm to the next level during this internship. Over the next six weeks, I’m looking forward to developing my confidence, gaining hands-on experience in a working environment, and learning from the dedicated team here at Ramsey Heights.
Alison Chaves, Communities and Education Manager said, "We are so pleased to welcome our new interns to the team. The Peatland Progress project aims to empower, inspire and engage young people aged 11-24, from all backgrounds, to gain vital skills in the environmental sector, while discovering, conserving and sharing their experiences of the wildlife and wild spaces of the Great Fen. These internships will follow a varied schedule that will allow them to gain a range of skills and experiences including supporting educational visits, project related activities and events, whilst also gaining an understanding of the wider roles within wildlife conservation and species monitoring. We hope they enjoy every minute!"
