The Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre is a fantastic place to visit no matter what your ability.
If you are thinking about visiting the Great Fen but have mobility problems then you can still have a great day out at the Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre. There is an all-terrain electric wheelchair which is free to hire from Monday - Friday between 9am and 4pm (must be returned by 4pm). You can hire these for up to 3 hours and tuition will be given upon your arrival (pre-booking is essential).
The chair has been tested, can easily cope with the terrain and is excellent for a trip around this small reserve. In 2012 Ron Needham from the Ramsey Stroke Association visited and used the electric wheelchair. Ron commented, "I shall certainly be making a return visit to go further afield in your fantastic mobile scooter (quite the best I have ever seen let alone driven)".
The Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre also has disabled-access paths down to the toilets (including disabled), picnic area and an all-access bird hide. If you would like to book one of the wheelchairs please contact the Great Fen Team on 01487 710420.
