Great Fen
The Fens are the UK’s version of the rainforests – 99% have been lost, leaving wildlife struggling to survive in the remaining fragments.
The Great Fen will provide an area large enough to support many kinds of threatened fen wildlife, such as otters, dragonflies, butterflies and rare birds.
It will also provide a home to some flowers and other plants found almost nowhere else in the UK, such as the fen violet (found in only two other locations) and the fen woodrush (found nowhere else in the UK other than at the Great Fen).
You can discover more about the wildlife of the Great Fen, past, present and future, in our Great Fen Wildlife section.
